Seven candidates to contest October election

Seven candidates will compete for six vacancies on the Dardanup Shire Council during the October 21 Local Government Election.

Nominations to stand for election closed yesterday (Thursday, 7 September) and the draw for ballot positions was subsequently conducted in Council Chambers.

Nominating for a position on Council in ballot order are:

  • Courtney Brennan
  • Stacey Gillespie
  • Tony Jenour
  • Mark Hutchinson
  • Jack Manoni
  • Annette Webster
  • Taneta Bell

The Shire of Dardanup would like to recognise our retiring Councillors, Shire President Mick Bennett, Cr Peter Robinson, Cr Patricia Perks and Cr Janice Dow.

Dardanup Shire Council uses the postal voting system for elections which are conducted by the WAEC.

Postal voting packages will be posted out later this month.

Under the State Government reforms, the election will for the first time be conducted using an Optional Preferential Voting system which requires voters to place a number next to their preferred candidate. Voters can number (in order of preference) one box, some boxes or all boxes.
