Make-It Space Materials

The Make-It Space provides basic materials for new members to use whilst learning the equipment and software. Once you know how to use the equipment and are ready to work on your own projects, you will need to supply your own materials, ensuring they’re compatible with our equipment.

Materials are provided for inductions and workshops.

EQUIPMENT MATERIALS
CO2 Laser Cutter - work area 500 x 700 x 160mm

The cutting / engraving capacity is dependent on the material. Some materials tests are available in the Make-It Space workshop area. Our rotary attachment can also engrave cylindrical objects. 

Laser cutting materials include: 
Acrylic, plastics, MDF, wood, leather, cardboard, rubber, foam.

Laser engraving materials include:
Acrylic, plastics, MDF, wood, aluminium, glass, melamine, tile, fabric.

PROHIBITED MATERIALS*: ABS, PVC, Epoxy/Resin coated, Styrofoam, Rubber. *A full list of prohibited materials is available on-site.

MOPA Fibre Laser - work area 220 x 220 x 100mm

The cutting / engraving capacity is dependent on the material type and thickness. Some materials tests are available in the Make-It Space workshop area.

Laser cutting materials include:
Stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper.

Laser engraving materials include:
Silver, gold, glass, ceramic, stone. Stainless steel can be colour-engraved!

PROHIBITED MATERIALS*: Reflective/mirror materials, Fibreglass, ABS, PVC, Epoxy resin, Vinyl. A full list of prohibited materials is available on-site.

CNC Router - work area 600 x 900 x 145mm

The cutting / carving capacity is dependent on the material and the bits used. Some sample projects are available in the Make-It Space workshop area.

Acrylic, MDF, ply wood, soft and hard woods, soft metals such as aluminium and copper.

Cricut Machines

Cricut machines can cut and emboss a wide variety of materials including card stock, adhesive vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, fabric, balsa and acetate.

Brother ScanNCut


ScanNCut will cut mostly the same materials possible with Cricut machines.

The ScanNCut makes creating stickers easy!
Simply print onto sticker paper, scan, then cut!

All our 3D printers take 1.75mm filament in a standard 1kg roll.
