The opportunity:
- Full-time – fixed term contract to December 2026 with possibility of extension.
- Salary Package - circa $210,000 per annum including cash component, superannuation, co-contributions and full private use of a 4WD Council vehicle.
- Located at our Eaton Administration Centre.
We’re seeking a strategic and dynamic leader with a passion for building vibrant communities and driving sustainable economic growth to join the Shire of Dardanup as our Director Community and Economic Development.
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Drive economic development by leading the creation and implementation of key strategies, including the Shire’s Economic Development Plan and Tourism Strategy, while fostering partnerships and advocating for growth across key industries.
- Lead community development initiatives that enhance liveability, including cultural events, public library services, community grants, and programs.
- Champion recreation services by overseeing strategic planning for sport and leisure facilities, managing the Eaton Recreation Centre business plan, and building strong relationships with sporting associations.
- Foster a high-performing team culture, supporting staff development, collaboration, and innovation across multiple service areas.
- Provide executive leadership, contributing to strategic decision-making, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and managing resources to deliver high-quality services and projects.
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor’s degree).
- Proven senior leadership experience, ideally within public administration.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex political environments.
- Strong understanding of community, recreation, and economic development challenges.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and change management skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing strategies that promote economic prosperity, social advancement, and environmental sustainability.
- Postgraduate qualifications in business, leadership, or project management will be highly regarded.
