Stage 1 in a series of planned upgrades to Eaton Recreation Centre & 24 Hour Gym over coming years is underway and involves renovation and extension of the front area of the building including the entry foyer and reception.

The $146,022 project is expected to be complete by the end of June.

The Shire of Dardanup has sought funding support from the State Government’s Community Sport and Recreational Facilities Fund towards the cost of a planned Stage 2 within the next 12 months which, if successful, would involve refurbishment of the centre’s accessible toilets and changerooms.

Additional future stages of upgrades are also subject to grant funding but would include two new multi-use courts and an expanded crèche.
Recent conversations with our community have highlighted the significance of a healthy lifestyle and opportunities for connection to others.

It’s exactly why HEALTHY and CONNECTED are listed as key aspirations in both our 2050 Vision and Council Plan 2022-2032.

Central to achieving both these aspirations for our community is providing leading recreation facilities – the standout one in the Shire of Dardanup being our 18-year-old Eaton Recreation Centre.

Previous improvements to the gym and expanded centre opening hours have led to a steady increase in members up from 745 in January last year to 930 this year.

Participation numbers in ERC social sporting competitions have also been on the rise.

The demand for access to quality community sporting facilities is clear so we’ll keep you posted as this project develops…
