Parking reminder - help keep our community safe

We’ve had some community feedback this week about Shire Rangers issuing warnings for illegal parking in Dardanup – especially near the bakery on Charlotte Street.

Our Rangers patrol this area regularly as part of their role to help keep the entire Shire of Dardanup safe and accessible.

One of the most common issues we’re seeing is parking against the flow of traffic.

Did you know?
Parking against the direction of traffic is:

  • An offence under the Shire of Dardanup Parking Local Law 2022.
  • A safety hazard when pulling out into oncoming traffic.
  • Frequently occurring around busy spots like the bakery.

What to do:

  • Always park in the same direction as traffic flow.
  • Choose safe, legal parking areas – even if it means walking a little further.
  • Be mindful of pedestrians, driveways, and visibility for other road users.

What not to do:

  • Don’t park facing oncoming traffic.
  • Don’t stop in unsafe locations, even for “just a minute”.
  • Don’t assume it’s okay if others are doing it.

What our Rangers do:

  • First: Educate drivers about the rules and why they matter.
  • Then: Issue written warnings if unsafe or repeat behaviour continues.
  • Finally: Infringements may be issued where necessary.

Thanks for helping us keep Dardanup streets safe for everyone. Your support makes a big difference in looking after our local community.
