Why does the Shire control weeds?

What is glyphosate?
Glyphosate is a commonly used herbicide available throughout Australia and is found in a range of retail weed control products.
The Shire uses glyphosate-based products where appropriate and in accordance with Australian regulations, manufacturer instructions and industry best practice.
In environmentally sensitive areas such as waterways and wetlands, approved aquatic-friendly products are used.
What alternatives has the Shire tried?
The Shire has investigated and trialled a number of alternatives to traditional herbicides, including:
