At its Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, the Shire of Dardanup progressed several important initiatives affecting local services, community facilities and long‑term planning.

Here’s a snapshot of the main outcomes.

From the Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner:

Shire moves to keep FOGO

Council endorsed a three‑part plan to keep FOGO operating: entering a short‑term processing contract to June 2028, beginning the process for a waste services Expression of Interest, and applying for the State Government’s South West FOGO Transport Subsidy, now increased to $95/tonne from July 2026 to September 2028. This ensures FOGO can be processed again while work continues toward a regional solution by 2028.
Council will continue to provide updates.

Community and Event Grants – Round 2

A fresh round of community and event grants was approved, supporting a range of local organisations involved in heritage preservation, sporting participation, youth engagement and inclusive community services.

RAV Freight Route amendments – Discovery and Fees roads

Changes to the Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) network received the green light, allowing controlled RAV 3 and RAV 4 access on sections of Discovery Road and Fees Road, subject to strict maintenance and safety conditions.

Ferguson Road Landscaping – consultation outcomes

Following extensive community consultation, Council deferred the landscaping plan for Ferguson Road and supported an alternative motion requesting further investigation into the installation of a zebra crossing near the school, as well as the introduction of a 40 km/h speed zone in the area. This additional work will help improve pedestrian safety and traffic management alongside the landscaping upgrades.

Rural Two‑Bin Kerbside Service – Reserve account amendment

An amendment to the Refuse and Recycling Bin Replacement Reserve was adopted to enable the purchase of new bins ahead of the rural kerbside rollout scheduled for April-May 2026.

Customer Service Charter review

A motion to review and update the Shire’s Customer Service Charter by December 2026 was supported, paving the way for refreshed service standards and improved communication expectations.
