Enrol to vote in Local Govt election by 22 August

The Shire of Dardanup urges all eligible residents, property owners, and occupiers to ensure they’re enrolled before the fast-approaching deadline for the Local Government Ordinary Election.

Important dates:

Election: Saturday, 18 October 2025.
Enrolment deadline: 5pm, Friday, 22 August 2025.

Who can enrol?

You may be eligible to vote if you:

  • Live in the Shire of Dardanup, or
  • Own or occupy rateable property within the Shire.

Residents

If you are already on the State Electoral Roll as of 5pm on Friday, 22 August 2025, you are automatically enrolled to vote.

If you are not enrolled, or if your details have changed (e.g. a recent move), you must update your enrolment before the deadline.

Non-resident owners and occupiers

If you own or occupy rateable property in the Shire but do not live there, you may still be eligible to vote if you are on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll.

  • Owners remain enrolled until they no longer own the property.
  • Occupiers must reapply and meet eligibility criteria, including:
    • A legal right to occupy the property for at least three months after applying.
    • Payment of rent above the prescribed amount.

Joint owners and occupiers

If a property is owned or occupied by more than two people, a majority may nominate two individuals (who are on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll) to vote on their behalf.

Corporations

A body corporate that owns or occupies rateable property may nominate two officers (on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll) to vote.

Enrolment forms for non-resident owners and occupiers

Forms are available from the Shire of Dardanup Admin Offices and must be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer by 5pm, Friday, 22 August 2025.
