The Shire of Dardanup celebrated Australia Day in style today, with community breakfasts held across Eaton, Dardanup and Burekup bringing residents together in a spirit of unity, reflection and appreciation.

The events provided an opportunity to officially welcome the Shire’s newest Australian citizens, acknowledge outstanding community contributions through the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards, and celebrate what it means to live in a vibrant, inclusive and forward‑thinking regional community.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the day highlighted the very best of the Shire.

“Today we celebrated the richness, diversity and community spirit that define our region,” Cr Gardiner said.

“It was a privilege to welcome our newest citizens and to recognise those whose dedication, innovation and compassion continue to strengthen our community.”

Welcoming our new citizens

The Shire officially welcomed 25 new Australian citizens from 17 different countries including Canada, South Africa, Indonesia, United Kingdom, India and New Zealand.

“Each of our new citizens brings their own story, strengths and cultural heritage,” Cr Gardiner said.

“We are honoured they have chosen the Shire of Dardanup as their home and look forward to the contributions they will make as part of our community.”
