Bushfire Emergency Warning – Millbridge and Waterloo

Information from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)
Issued: 2:37 PM, 23 February 2026

A Bushfire Emergency Warning is in place for people in the area bounded by Millbridge Boulevard, Clayton View, Clifton Road, Hynes Road, Evolution Loop, Illawarra Drive and Murchison Parade in Millbridge and Waterloo within the Shire of Dardanup.

You are in danger and must act immediately. There is a threat to lives and homes.

What You Need to Do

  • If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place.
  • If it is safe, travel in a northerly direction.
  • Do not wait and see; leaving late is extremely dangerous.
  • Take your emergency kit.
  • If trapped in your vehicle, park away from vegetation, cover yourself with a woollen blanket and lie on the floor.
  • Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, keeping water running if possible.
  • If you cannot leave, prepare to shelter inside your home before the fire arrives. Choose a room with running water and a clear exit.
  • If you are not at home, it is too dangerous to return.

Bushfire Behaviour

  • The fire is moving north‑east.
  • It is not contained or controlled.

Road Closures

  • Forrest Highway is closed between Raymond Road and Eaton Drive.
Motorists should avoid the area and check Main Roads WA for updates.

Firefighting Efforts

  • Firefighters are actively working to contain the fire.
  • Aerial support is assisting ground crews.

Drones

Do not fly drones or model aircraft near the fire. This endangers firefighting aircraft and can halt aerial operations.

Animal Welfare

Livestock and pet owners should activate their animal welfare plans and follow Local Government advice.
