Award-winning author to share journey at Eaton Library

Acclaimed Western Australian author Holden Sheppard will make his only South West appearance at the Eaton Community Library on Thursday, 28 August, as part of his King of Dirt National Book Tour.

Award-winning Sheppard will deliver an exclusive Author Talk and Q&A session, offering insights into his latest novel King of Dirt – a gritty and heartfelt exploration of identity, masculinity, and life in regional WA.

Set in Sheppard’s hometown of Geraldton, the story follows Jack (real name Giacomo Brolo) as he returns to the place he once fled, confronting painful memories and searching for a deeper understanding of himself.

Shire of Dardanup President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the free event will be hosted by fellow author and MC Dr Aksel Dadswell, with book sales available thanks to Collins Booksellers Bunbury, followed by a meet-and-greet signing session.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Holden Sheppard to the Eaton Community Library as part of his national tour,” Cr Gardiner said.

“It’s a rare opportunity for our South West community to hear directly from such an acclaimed WA author whose work resonates so powerfully with regional audiences.”

Cr Gardiner also praised the library as a cornerstone of community connection and creativity.

“The Eaton Community Library is more than just a place to borrow books – it’s a vibrant community space where ideas are shared, stories are celebrated, and people come together,” he said.
“Events like this showcase the library’s role in fostering cultural enrichment and lifelong learning for all.”
