The Shire of Dardanup is proud to announce that Director Infrastructure Theo Naudé has been awarded a Merit Award at the 2026 WALGA Local Government Honours Program, presented on Friday night.
The award recognises Mr Naudé’s outstanding contribution to Local Government, following more than 35 years of service across metropolitan, regional and rural communities.
Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the award highlights not only Mr Naude’s individual achievements, but also the Shire of Dardanup’s ongoing commitment to strong leadership, sound governance and delivering high‑quality infrastructure for its community.
“Theo is a highly respected and humble leader who has been with the Shire of Dardanup for five years and is held in high regard by both elected members and staff,” Cr Gardiner said.
“This recognition reflects not only his technical expertise, but the way he leads and supports his team each day.
“We are incredibly proud to see him acknowledged alongside other outstanding leaders at the WALGA gala dinner.”
Mr Naudé was also recently recognised as a Fellow of Engineers Australia and the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, which further reflects his standing within the profession and his contribution to advancing best practice across the sector.
Mr Naudé said he was honoured to receive the Merit Award.
“I’m incredibly honoured to receive this recognition from WALGA. Local Government has been my career for more than three decades, and it’s a sector I’m deeply passionate about,” Mr Naudé said.
“This award really reflects the teams and communities I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years. Infrastructure and asset management are ultimately about delivering sustainable, practical outcomes for our communities, and that’s always been my focus.
“At the Shire of Dardanup, we’ve made significant strides in strengthening our systems and planning for the future, and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that is committed to continuous improvement.
“I’m also passionate about supporting and mentoring others in the sector, so we continue to build strong leadership and capability into the future.”
The WALGA Local Government Honours Program recognises outstanding individuals who contribute to the advancement of Local Government in Western Australia.
