The Shire of Dardanup today proudly hosted the Cook Government’s Cabinet Meeting in the Shire’s Council Chambers, following yesterday’s Community Cabinet meetings in Collie and Donnybrook.
Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner and CEO André Schönfeldt addressed Cabinet, outlining how the Shire’s strategic infrastructure projects are ready to align with State priorities in housing, health, jobs and regional connectivity.
Cr Gardiner said the Shire has practical, place‑based solutions to cater for forecast population growth across the Shire and the broader South West.
He said key opportunities highlighted included enabling infrastructure for the new City of Wanju, freight and industry uplift through Waterloo, affordable housing delivery, critical water upgrades in Dardanup, and improved transport links — all within a partnership framework designed to accelerate approvals and delivery.
“We thank the Premier and Ministers for bringing Cabinet to our community. Our message is simple: the Shire of Dardanup is ready to deliver,” Cr Gardiner said.
“Our Advocacy Plan sets out key projects that align directly with State priorities in housing, infrastructure and jobs.
“With a more collaborative, partnership approach, we can turn policy intent into real, on‑the‑ground outcomes for families, workers and businesses across the South West.”
Cr Gardiner said the Shire is committed to working positively and collaboratively with the State and Commonwealth to unlock the region’s potential — building the homes, services and transport networks our growing communities need, and ensuring long‑term economic resilience for Western Australia.
