Rural waste service changes

Published on Tuesday, 30 May 2023 at 1:57:17 PM

The Shire of Dardanup has become aware that a private waste contractor previously delivering a kerbside collection service in some of our rural areas has ceased operations, creating challenges for affected residents.

The Shire is working to support those community members now left without a service while also investigating options for potential new service areas.

This is how we’re approaching it:

1. Expanding collections on existing routes.

Ferguson Road to Carlaminda Drive/Ferguson Hall. Properties located along this existing route but not currently receiving a service from the Shire of Dardanup can apply for a two-bin kerbside collection which will include a Red-Lidded General Waste Bin (collected weekly) and Yellow-Lidded Recycling Bin (collected fortnightly).

Collie River Road. Properties located along this existing route but not currently receiving a service from the Shire of Dardanup can apply for a two-bin kerbside collection which will include a Red-Lidded General Waste Bin (collected weekly) and Yellow-Lidded Recycling Bin (collected fortnightly).

Residents who fall into the above two areas can complete the below Request Form.

  • Wellington Mill Road
  • Buckenara Rise
  • Pile road between Ferguson Road and Gardincourt Drive

3. Calling for Expressions of Interest from rural community members interested in receiving a two-bin      kerbside collection service.

We are seeking expressions of interest from community members across our Shire who would like the opportunity to apply for a two-bin kerbside collection which will include a Red-Lidded General Waste Bin (collected weekly) and Yellow-Lidded Recycling Bin (collected fortnightly).

To express your interest and help us assess the level of demand for new collection routes, please complete the below form by 14 June, 2023 and return to us.

Once interest levels and locations of interested residents can be gauged, Shire staff will work with Veolia to assess feasibility and budget impacts before a report is presented to Council for consideration in July. We’ll be sure to update you as our investigations progress.

Rural residents are also reminded our Bansksia Road Waste Transfer Station is available for disposal of General Waste and Recycling between Friday and Monday from 8.30am to 4.00pm and from 1.30pm to 4.00pm on Wednesdays.
