Restricted Burning Period from 1 November

As summer approaches, the Shire of Dardanup has now entered its annual Restricted Burning Period, which began on 1 November 2025.

This important safety measure will remain in place until 13 December, when the Prohibited Burning Period comes into effect.

You WILL need a fire permit to:

  • Light a bonfire.

  • Burn garden waste.

  • Clear pasture through burning.

  • Burn private bushland.

Permits can be obtained from your local Fire Control Officer:

  • Burekup: Clay Rose (Deputy CBFCO North) – 0429 194 735.

  • Eaton Townsite: Chris Hynes (Chief BFCO) – 0428 825 496.

  • Ferguson: Lyndon Skeers – 0407 424 147.

  • Joshua Crooked Brook: Jeffery Duncombe – 0429 204 011.

  • Upper Ferguson: Grant Ratcliffe – 0419 865 483.

  • Waterloo: Robert Drennan (Deputy CBFCO South) – 0427 263 243.

  • Wellington Mills: Russell Harvie – 0408 931 387.

  • West Dardanup: Neil Dyer – 0418 588 159.

You DON’T need a permit for:

  • Outdoor barbeques.

  • Pizza ovens.

  • Fire pits.

Just remember to clear the surrounding area of flammable materials to prevent stray embers from igniting nearby vegetation.

Campfire Restrictions in DBCA-Controlled Areas
If you’re camping in areas managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), additional rules may apply, including limits on campfire timing and the use of designated fire pits only.
