The Shire of Dardanup has completed a major lighting upgrade at Glen Huon Reserve, delivering improved facilities for local sporting clubs and community groups while supporting the long-term renewal of community infrastructure across the Shire.
Delivered as part of a Cook Government election commitment, the $425,015 project has seen the installation of four new 200-lux light towers at the reserve, enhancing the venue for the Eaton Boomers Football Club and wider community by expanding access for night training, matches and events.
Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the new lighting improves visibility, safety and flexibility at the popular sporting precinct, allowing more activities to be held outside daylight hours and helping meet the needs of a growing community.
Cr Gardiner said the upgrade would deliver lasting benefits for local clubs, volunteers, players and spectators.
"Glen Huon Reserve is an important community asset that brings people together through sport, recreation and social connection, and these new lights will significantly improve the experience for everyone who uses the facility,” Cr Gardiner said.
"This investment gives local clubs greater flexibility to train and host activities, while creating more opportunities for participation in community sport.
"We're grateful for the State Government's support in helping deliver this project, which will ensure Glen Huon Reserve continues to meet the needs of our growing community for years to come."
The lighting upgrade forms part of broader improvements planned for Glen Huon Reserve, with a new scoreboard and extended verandahs also scheduled for delivery.

“For our players, coaches and volunteers the addition of new lights for our football oval has made training a whole lot safer.
“The lights open possibilities to hold night fixtures during the footy season for our senior grades as well as the Eaton juniors, who we hope to have during next season and beyond.
