Have your say on the review of the Cat Act

Published on Friday, 7 August 2026 at 9:39:12 AM

The Western Australian Government is reviewing the Cat Act 2011 and is seeking feedback from cat owners, residents, animal welfare organisations and the broader community.

The review aims to assess how well the current legislation is working and identify opportunities to improve cat management, responsible ownership, animal welfare and community safety across Western Australia.

Community feedback will help inform the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety's (LGIRS) consideration of future improvements to the Act.

Residents are encouraged to complete the online survey and have their say before the consultation closes on 31 August 2026.

The Shire encourages community members with an interest in cat ownership and management to participate and contribute to this important review.
