Get excited! We’re planning a new playground

We’re bursting with excitement to have received a $75,000 State Government grant towards the cost of a sought-after new playground for East Millbridge in Eaton and we want you to help design it!

Equipment will cater to the smallest members of our community aged 0-4 years with inclusion of accessible features so children of all abilities can join the fun.

The new playground will be located in Public Open Space between Millbridge Boulevard and Denison Link and we’ve got high hopes it will be ready to rumble by the end of the year.

So if you and your family are likely to be regular visitors to our new playground, jump in and have your say.

We need to know the answers to questions like:

  • What features would you like the playground to have?
  • What do your children most like doing at the playground?
  • What time of the day do you expect you will mostly visit the playground?

To make this both easy, interactive and a little bit fun, we’re collecting your ideas and feedback via our cutting-edge online platform Connect Dardanup which allows community members to post pictures on a digital ‘Ideas Wall’. It’s a bit like a Pinterest-inspired digital community brainstorm!

Maybe you have photos of playground equipment you’ve seen elsewhere that you could post to the wall? Or seen an idea online you think would be an innovative addition to our new playgrounds?

Then again, you might just have feedback on how you see the playgrounds are being used at the moment and into the future?

All of your ideas are displayed anonymously on the wall where you can leave a comment or respond to thoughts contributed by others. Alternatively, just complete the survey!

The comment period will run for four weeks from today, Monday, 24 January to Sunday, 27 February.

Note: Connect Dardanup is best viewed on Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Firefox browsers.

Member for Collie-Preston Jodie Hanns said she was so pleased to see funding delivered to the Shire of Dardanup to contribute towards improvements to the open space.

In announcing the State Government grant contribution, Member for Collie-Preston Jodie Hanns MLA said: “This space will be a great amenity and will be welcomed by the community, many of whom are young families.

“Open spaces in our community are so important, being a place where people can meet and play.

“Increasing physical activity, by getting outdoors, has great mental health benefits too.”

Dardanup Shire President Mick Bennett thanked the State Government and Ms Hanns for the contribution.

“This funding is a welcome addition to development of the project which was part of Council’s long term plans for improvements to the area.”

If you have any questions, please contact Peta Nolan at the Shire of Dardanup on 9724 0304.
