Fire burning period dates clarified for 2025-26 fire season

The Shire of Dardanup is advising the community of a correction to the Restricted and Prohibited Burning Period dates published in the 2025-26 Fire Prevention Order.

The Shire has confirmed that the approved and gazetted dates were correctly published in the printed Be Prepared flyers.

The correct 2025-26 burning periods were:

  • Restricted Burning Period:
    1 November to 13 December 2025.
  • Prohibited Burning Period:
    14 December 2025 to 13 March 2026.
  • Restricted Burning Period:
14 March to midnight on 25 April 2026.

The current conditions have allowed the Shire, in consultation with the Chief Bushfire Control Officer, Department of Fire and Emergency Services and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, to not extended the restricted burning period further.

The Shire acknowledges the error and apologises for any confusion this may have caused for residents and landowners.

Looking ahead to the next fire season

The 2026-27 Restricted and Prohibited Burning Period dates will be determined and published ahead of the next burning season, prior to restrictions coming into effect in November 2026.

Residents are encouraged to always check the Shire of Dardanup website or contact Emergency and Ranger Services if they are unsure about current burning restrictions.
