The Shire of Dardanup's Annual Report 2022/23 was officially endorsed at Wednesday's Electors Meeting, marking a year of significant progress and achievement for the community.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the Shire was grateful to all members of the community for their contributions to making Dardanup a vibrant and thriving place to live.

Cr Gardiner further highlighted the key achievements of the past year, including the completion of key projects such as upgrades to Carramar Park, rural and urban road and bridge projects, the Wells Recreation Reserve Change Rooms, and the inauguration of the New Dardanup Heritage Trail, commemorating the Dardanup town site's 100th anniversary.

“These endeavours have not only enhanced our infrastructure and facilities but have also laid the foundation for a more active and connected future,” Cr Gardiner said.

“A key part of our achievements lies in the collaborative efforts between the Shire and all tiers of government and key stakeholders. This collaboration is pivotal in ensuring a high quality of life and wellbeing for the residents and professionals who call our shire home.”

Cr Gardiner said the Shire is embarking on a transformative journey with the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning system to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.

“By streamlining processes and centralising data, the Shire aims to optimise its internal operations, resulting in cost savings and improved service delivery to the community,” Cr Gardiner said.

CEO André Schönfeldt highlighted the Shire's unwavering dedication to robust financial management and governance practices, maintaining a rate revenue increase in line with the long-term financial plan despite economic challenges.

Mr Schönfeldt acknowledged the support received from the Federal Government's economic stimulus funding, enabling the acceleration of community infrastructure projects.

He said a total of almost $4 million in State, Federal and other grant funding facilitated the prompt delivery of crucial projects.

Key highlights include:

  • A healthy Capital Works Program totalling $14.2 million in major and minor works projects.
  • Construction of our new $1.1 million changeroom facilities at Wells Recreation Park in Dardanup was completed in late 2022.
  • The Dardanup Civic Precinct Upgrade, which was the creation of a picturesque Civic Precinct connecting Dardanup’s main street, town and hall to Carramar Park through the former volunteer fire brigade and depot site.
  • Continued delivery of a range of community events and programs through our collaborations with key partners including Lotterywest, Healthway, Tronox, the Lions Clubs, J&P Metals and Outback 4WD for the Summer in Your Park series, have enriched community engagement.

"As we reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, I am pleased to announce that our commitment to good governance and financial excellence has once again been validated with an unqualified audit,” Mr Schönfeldt said.

“Everything we do as a Shire is for the betterment of our community and this report is a snapshot of the dedication and collaborative efforts of the Shire’s residents, elected members and staff.”
