The Shire of Dardanup would like to congratulate the Wellington Mills Volunteer Bushfire Brigade, who have been nominated in the 2023 DFES Firefighting Team Achievement Awards!
This award acknowledges a volunteer brigade, team or task force who together, have made a real difference in their community over the past 12 months.
Wellington Mills were nominated for their outstanding contribution to community preparedness in 2022/23.
The awards took place on Saturday 9th September 2023 at the WAFES Conference with brigade representatives FCO Keith Higham and Captain Ian Bridge in attendance. Both Keith and Ian were fantastic representatives for the community, Shire of Dardanup and the South West Brigades and we thank them for their attendance and professionalism. We would also like to acknowledge Mr Robert Doherty, who's dedication and commitment was instrumental in the brigade receiving the nomination.
The brigade was one of three finalists and faced some fierce competition, with the award eventually won by the Fitzroy Fire and Emergency Services brigade.
