The Shire of Dardanup is inviting residents to come together to reflect, respect and celebrate at one of three community breakfast events to be held on Australia Day, Monday 26 January 2026.
The events, supported by the Australian Government through a grant from the National Australia Day Council, are proudly organised and delivered by local volunteers and community groups.
Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said Australia Day is an opportunity to pause, connect and celebrate what brings communities together.
“Australia Day is about coming together as a community – recognising where we’ve come from, respecting each other’s stories, and celebrating the people who make our Shire such a great place to live,” Cr Gardiner said.
“Our local breakfast events are a wonderful way for families, friends and neighbours to start the day together in a relaxed and welcoming environment.”
Cr Gardiner thanked the community organisations and volunteers hosting events in Dardanup, Burekup and Eaton, acknowledging the time and effort involved in delivering meaningful local celebrations.
“The Shire is proud to support these events and the volunteers behind them. For a simple gold coin donation, residents can enjoy breakfast, entertainment and activities for all ages.”
The Eaton celebration will again include a Citizenship Ceremony, officially welcoming new residents to the Shire of Dardanup as Australian citizens, along with the presentation of the WA Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
These moments are a highlight of the day,” Cr Gardiner said. “They recognise people who go above and beyond for others and celebrate those choosing to make our community home.”
