The Shire of Dardanup is inviting community feedback on its draft Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan 2023-2028, to help shape the future of community safety.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner emphasised the importance of community input with the plan, which aims to foster a safe and vibrant community for all Shire residents.

He said the plan focuses on objectives such as creating a safe and inclusive environment and ensuring the provision of facilities and infrastructure that promote safety.

"Our priority is to ensure that every member of our community feels safe and secure. We want to hear from our residents about their concerns and suggestions to enhance safety measures,” Cr Gardiner said.

“The plan outlines several objectives, including maintaining a safe and secure community conducive to all ages and interests, as well as providing and maintaining facilities that promote the Shire as an attractive and desirable place to live.”

Cr Gardiner said the plan aims to achieve these objectives through various means, including sustaining partnerships with government agencies, businesses, and the community. It also prioritises the identification of safety concerns and the development of action plans to address them over a five-year period.

"We are committed to working closely with our residents, local authorities, and businesses to implement effective safety measures," Cr Gardiner added.

"By collaborating with our community, we can ensure that our strategies align with the needs and priorities of our residents."

The Plan is now available for public comment until 4pm on Tuesday, 7 May 2024.

Submissions should be addressed to the CEO and can be emailed to records@dardanup.wa.gov.au or mailed to PO Box 7016, WA, 6232.
