Fuel to Go & Play Summer Series is returning to your park this summer!
The Fuel to Go & Play Summer in Your Park Series is returning to the Shire of Dardanup this December, January and February!
The second year of the partnership between the Shire of Dardanup and Fuel to Go & Play will see parks come to life this summer with exciting free family-friendly events in outdoor locations across the shire. The Fuel to Go & Play Summer in Your Park Series will see 23 free events targeted at fostering community involvement and promoting healthy eating, drinking and activities.
This year’s program includes the return of favourites such as “Movies by Moonlight” where attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a movie under the stars in their local park and “Summer Sounds” which showcases two hours of live, local music. Exciting new additions to this year’s series includes two X5 Parkour Workshops, wellness activities targeted at seniors, Kids Crafts with Kate and the Whiteys Family Learn to Fish Clinic. There will be plenty of other returning events to look forward to across the shire such as the popular Yoga with Gyani, Scouts Family Fun Day, Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Story time in the Park.
The event series is funded by Council with additional support from Healthway through a $10,000 Fuel to Go & Play grant. The 2023 - 2024 series will increase healthy food and drink options at all events and increase the community’s knowledge around the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity.
The event concept, launched in 2020 by the Shire of Dardanup is designed to draw community members into their local parks to foster social connection and engagement.
Dardanup Shire CEO André Schönfeldt said the Fuel to Go & Play Summer in Your Park Series offered an opportunity to create vibrancy and encourage connection within communities.
“The event series offers a platform to showcase the diversity of our community and bring people together by fostering positive social connections,”
“It’s about encouraging community connectedness through events, activities and projects that make use of the wonderful recreational spaces we have available in the Shire of Dardanup.” Mr Schönfeldt said.
Last year’s events saw thousands of community members from across the shire and surrounding areas attend the activities offered in the series.
