Varroa and Hive Health Workshop

Join WA's Varroa Development Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) for a specially designed workshops aimed at preparing beekeepers for the potential arrival of Varroa mites in Western Australia. 

At the workshop, DPIRD’s Varroa Development Officers (VDOs) – all highly experienced beekeepers – will work directly with participants to demonstrate:

  • How to check hives for Varroa mite
  • Effective surveillance and reporting techniques
  • Practical hive management skills
  • Tips for maintaining healthy hives year-round

Attendees will also learn how to access ongoing support, including one-on-one apiary visits, Buzz Alerts, webinars and additional training opportunities.

The Shire of Dardanup encourages anyone interested in responsible beekeeping – from backyard beginners to established hobbyists – to attend this important session and help keep WA’s bee population healthy.
