Working within our Development Services team, you will contribute to a diverse range of planning projects and statutory planning matters across one of Western Australia's fastest-growing regions. From processing development and subdivision applications to helping shape long-term planning strategies, this is a unique opportunity to be involved in projects that make a lasting impact on our community.

About the opportunities:

Depending on your skills, qualifications and experience, opportunities may include responsibilities such as:

• Assessing and processing development, subdivision, structure plan and land administration applications.
• Providing professional planning advice to the community, Council, Elected Members and stakeholders.
• Assisting in the development and review of local planning strategies, schemes and policies.
• Preparing reports for Council, Committees and external agencies.
• Representing or assisting to represent the Shire in planning matters before relevant authorities.
• Investigating planning compliance matters and contributing to positive development outcomes.
• Building strong relationships with developers, landowners, government agencies and community members.

About you:

To be successful, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related discipline.
• A passion for planning and community development.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to interpret and apply planning legislation, policies and frameworks.
• Well-developed analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• A collaborative approach and commitment to customer service excellence.
• Experience within local government planning will be highly regarded but is not essential for suitably qualified early-career applicants.
