Community Meetings

Community Meetings are among a range of ongoing community engagement activities undertaken by the Shire of Dardanup as directed by its Community Engagement Policy and associated Framework.

Unlike regular meetings of Council's Place-based Advisory Groups, Community Meetings are open to everyone and are designed to facilitate two-way communication between Council and the community while fortifying a strong connection.

Traditionally, Local Government has relied on the community representation of elected Councillors to ensure that community issues and priorities are reflected in Council activities. This is still crucial but increasingly community members have an expectation of more direct involvement in providing input to Council priorities.

Not only is greater transparency and engagement with the community expected, but it is also good business practice for Council.  Successful engagement can improve strategic planning and service delivery, ensure that Council is addressing the priorities of the community and increase community support and collaboration.

Please find below links to recently-held Community Meetings where you will find the associated list of actions and inquiries provided to Shire Staff and the outcomes achieved. This provides our community with assurance their voice has been heard and where appropriate, actioned by Staff.
