We’re working to reduce unwanted puppies!

Does your dog need to be sterilised? Are you a health care or other concession card holder

  • UPDATE: This offer has now been extended to all Shire of Dardanup dog owners. First come, first served until they run out.

During June, the Shire of Dardanup is teaming up with local vets to offer HUGE discounts on procedures for male and female dogs to holders of health care and concession cards.

Remember our successful 30 Cats in 30 Days campaign last year? Now we’re doing the same for dogs!

30 Dogs in 30 Days is a campaign to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and dogs in our community.

We’re hoping at least 30 dogs during June and their owners will benefit from the discounts. But get in quick because the offer will run on a first come, first served basis and vouchers are limited. One voucher per household only.

Here’s the discount deal:

Access this valuable discount in 3 easy steps:

  1. Collect a brochure from our Eaton Administration Office and complete
  2. Return completed form, proof of address and Health Care or Concession Card number to us for on-the-spot assessment of eligibility
  3. If approved, you will be given a voucher for presentation to a local vet. The vet will reduce your bill to the extent of the subsidy and invoice the Shire directly to pay the difference – easy!

All three vets located within the Shire of Dardanup have indicated their support for the campaign and willingness to participate.

Once your dog is sterilised, please register your dog with the Shire at your earliest convenience.

Benefits of De-Sexing Dogs

A de-sexed dog is less likely to have risk of:

  • unwanted pregnancies
  • developing testicular, ovarian and uterine cancers
  • aggressive territorial behavior including roaming and marking
  • coming into season and bleeding (females)
  • anti-social behaviour towards people or other animals
