Weed control targets kerbs and rural verges

A schedule of spraying urban kerbsides and rural verges to reduce fire risk is about to commence under the Shire of Dardanup’s annual program of weed control.

The full program will take our Parks and Environment Team about three weeks however work will start this week in urban areas of Millbridge and Eaton, followed by the townsites of Dardanup and Burekup.

Following completion of these areas, the team will move to rural verge treatements.

For residents in urban areas – under the Shire of Dardanup’s Residential Road Verge Policy – verge treatments in urban areas must be maintained by the adjoining property owner.

Owners of corner block positions need to consider the maintenance of both their front and side verges.

Long dry grass and weeds left on poorly maintained verges not only detract from your property, but can create a fire hazard.
