Projects target water quality

Farmers and rural landholders in the Shire of Dardanup are being encouraged to consider getting involved in two projects being undertaken by the Leschenault Catchments Council to improve water quality.

The Regional Estuaries Initiative stream restoration project provides funding for stock exclusion and revegetation to restore stream function.

And the Regional Estuaries Initiative soil testing program supports informed fertiliser decisions to reduce nutrient loss off farms.

Eligible applicants would receive whole farm soil testing, pasture tissue testing, nutrient maps and access to personalised agronomic advice to ensure fertiliser and profits stay on the farm and out of the waterways.

More information, criteria, applications and expressions of interest can be made by visiting the Regional Estuaries Initiative website.
