Big jumps have been made towards plans for provision of a playground at Peninsula Lakes in Eaton by the Shire of Dardanup.
Approval has been provided by Planning Minister Rita Saffioti on Council’s intent to spend $100,000 on the project – part of $150,000 paid to the Shire of Dardanup by Parkridge Group in 2011 for improvements to public open space.
Submissions made during a public comment period on the proposed playground design have also been collated and taken into consideration by Shire staff who are now preparing documentation to enable the purchase of equipment to occur for Stage 1 of the plan in anticipation of final approval by Council next month.
Stage 1 will include:
- Custom high-quality ropes adventure course in circuit format, with unique elevated cubby feature and elements selected for maximum play value including a hammock swing, balancing ropes, rope ‘monkey bars’ and nets
- Spinner – inclusive sensory feature with spinning motion function;
- Rockers x 2
- Formal edge comprising a two-course limestone block wall (straight with feature ‘turret’ sections of varying block heights and orientations), rock work and a feature hand formed concrete ‘beach’ edge plus sand for sensory play value.
Planned inclusions for Stage 2 are:
- Birds nest swing
- multi-sports goals
- rubber softfall
- shade sails
Additional play opportunities for younger children are proposed for a future stage in conjunction with a picnic area with shelter and tables.
Stay tuned for further updates as this project progresses…
