The tender to construct two new sports pavilions as part of the Shire of Dardanup’s re-development of Glen Huon Oval will be awarded at a special meeting of Council on Wednesday, July 6.

The tender was advertised last month and submissions closed on June 21 with 6 applications received.

Site works are expected to begin in about a month so keep an eye on the area as the Project enters its exciting construction phase.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on progress with regular Project Updates.

Council adopted a Master Plan for redevelopment of Glen Huon Reserve at its meeting on November 17 last year.

Also included in the Plan is replacement of the existing playground with upgraded equipment in a new location slightly north of the current position.

The Shire of Dardanup is currently seeking quotations for the supply and installation of new playground equipment.

Funding of $3 million has been received from the Department of Sport and Recreation towards the redevelopment project following a strong lobbying effort by Councillors and Staff to attract State Government support.

Engineering and Development Services Director Luke Botica said a significant amount of funding had being injected into this part of Eaton and the result would be a range of modern new facilities that would integrate a lot more effectively with other development in the area.
