Pool owners receiving their Rates Notice today may notice a change in the way their four-yearly inspection fee is applied.
Rather than adding the entire inspection fee to your rates notice every four years, a 25 per cent portion is instead added each year.
For the 2019/20 Rates Notice this equates to $14.61.
Pool Inspections are carried out by Shire Officers in line with the Building Regulations 2012.
Under the law, Local Governments in WA must arrange for an authorised person to inspect all registered private swimming pool barriers within their district at intervals of no more than 4 years for the purpose of ensuring swimming pool barriers are maintained to relevant standards.
Legislation allows for Local Governments to impose a maximum charge to the owners of each swimming pool to meet the cost of carrying out the mandatory inspections.
