Planning Approvals Process

Follow the below stepped process to make applying for Planning Approval easy:

STEP 1 – Confirm you need Planning Approval

STEP 2 – Apply for Planning Approval

Complete the relevant application form and provide the information you need to support your application.

Form 110 – Application Form – Development Approval
Form 110A – Supplementary Form – Working from Home (in conjunction with Form 110)
Form 110B – Supplementary Form – Advertising Signage Application (in conjunction with Form 110)

STEP 3 – Submit your Application

Don’t forget to include the application fee.

The Shire’s Planning officers are very knowledgeable and approachable.  They are more than willing to check your application to ensure that you have all the information and supporting documentation to assist with a smooth and timely process of application assessment.

You may submit your application by post, email, fax or in person.

STEP 4 – Application Processing

The Shire’s Planning officers will assess your application which may involve one or more of the following:

  • Advertising to adjoining neighbours and/or surrounding properties for comment
  • Referral to Government agencies (for example, Department of Water, Main Roads WA, Department of Parks and Wildlife)
  • Referral to a Council Meeting for consideration and determination

STEP 5 – Planning Decision

Your application process is completed when Planning officers (or Council) have determined your application and you will receive a Planning Approval or Planning Refusal.

Approvals may be issued with or without conditions.  If your approval is subject to conditions, it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with the conditions within the time specified.

STEP 6 – Compliance

If your application has been approved subject to conditions, the Shire’s Planning officers will undertake inspections to ensure you have complied with your conditions of approval.
