Planning Approvals Process

Follow the below stepped process to make applying for Planning Approval easy:


STEP 1 – Confirm you need Planning Approval

STEP 2 – Apply for Planning Approval

Complete the relevant application form and provide the information you need to support your application.

The below Information Sheets outline various application types and some insight on steps that may be required in completing them.

While the Shire of Dardanup endeavors to provide accurate advice, it does not give any assurances or warranties as to the accuracy of the information contained in the Information Sheets, and it is advised that you check the original Local Laws, Local Planning Policies, Acts, the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme and other relevant documents for detailed references.

Also listed below are checklists to ensure all relevant information is submitted to the Shire of Dardanup with your proposal. Failure to provide the information can result in delays with the processing of your application.

STEP 3
– Submit your Application

The Shire’s Planning officers are very knowledgeable and approachable.  They are more than willing to check your application to ensure that you have all the information and supporting documentation to assist with a smooth and timely process of application assessment.

It is advisable to consult the Planning Checklists to ensure you haven’t missed something.

Don’t forget to include the application fee if submitting by post or in person.

You can also lodge your application via email (records@dardanup.wa.gov.au) with file sizes limited to 10MB. Your application will be registered and an invoice will be emailed with an option to pay the fees by BPay. Please note including a Credit Card Authorisation with your application may result in delays.

Once payment has been received, the application will move to processing.

 


STEP 4 – Application Processing

The Shire’s Planning officers will assess your application which may involve one or more of the following:

  • Advertising to adjoining neighbours and/or surrounding properties for comment
  • Referral to Government agencies (for example, Department of Water, Main Roads WA, Department of Parks and Wildlife)
  • Referral to a Council Meeting for consideration and determination

STEP 5 – Planning Decision

Your application process is completed when Planning officers (or Council) have determined your application and you will receive a Planning Approval or Planning Refusal.

Approvals may be issued with or without conditions.  If your approval is subject to conditions, it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with the conditions within the time specified.

STEP 6 – Compliance

If your application has been approved subject to conditions, the Shire’s Planning officers will undertake inspections to ensure you have complied with your conditions of approval.
