Planning underway for Eaton Oval upgrades

A working group has been formed by the Shire of Dardanup to progress upgrades to the Eaton Oval on Pratt Road and its associated facilities.

The working group has been charged with the responsibility of developing a project scope and designs for presentation to the Eaton Sports Committee and then Council for final endorsement.

The Eaton Oval reserve includes three tennis courts, two basketball courts, changerooms and the Eaton Community Hall – currently leased to the Bunbury Repertory Club.

There is a shared use agreement between the Eaton Junior Football Club and Eaton Cricket Club for use of the oval with the softball club also occasionally using it for training.

The new Eaton Oval working group includes:

  • Shire President Mick Bennett
  • Cr Carmel Boyce
  • Two members Eaton Basketball Association
  • Two members Eaton Cricket Club
  • Two members Eaton Junior Football Club

Council also resolved that a representative and proxy from Eaton Ladies Tennis and Social Club should also be added to the Eaton Sports Committee to ensure they could have input.

In a report to Council on March 28, Project Development Engineer James Reilly said the tennis and basketball courts were in need of upgrading and funds had been allocated in the 2017/18 budget for resurfacing works.

He also said $445,706 was earmarked in the 2018/19 Budget for upgrades to the 270sq m changerooms and a public submission had been received for the addition of a function room to the facility.

Mr Reilly said these items would form part of the discussion for the working group.

Stay tuned for further updates as this project progresses…
