Optus commences community education

Mobile phone service in Dardanup and surrounds will be improved with a new 4G service when Optus installs a base station on Recreation Road, Paradise.

Council granted Optus with Development Approval for the station – which includes a 40m monopole – at its meeting on February 14, following six months of deliberation and consultation.

Conscious of community concern around the alleged health impacts of mobile phone towers, Council also requested Optus provide residents with education and information on the topic.

As a result of that request, Optus has prepared a Community Information Newsletter which provides information on:

  • Scope of the development
  • Expected levels of electromagnetic energy to be emitted from the facility and how that compares to mandatory emission standards in Australia and internationally
  • Latest scientific research on the question of whether mobile base stations impact health

The Shire of Dardanup is distributing this newsletter to the letterboxes of all residents in Dardanup and surrounds as well as publishing the information on its website and Facebook page.

If you would like to discuss the mobile base station in more detail, please phone:
