Unique art project set to light up Eaton

Eaton’s brand new $1 million skate park will provide a unique canvas for a dazzling digital art installation in March when the Shire of Dardanup launches ‘EnLighten’ – a creative new event designed to shed light on the places, people and moments that cultivate happiness in its community.

The playful exploration of light and digital technologies will come to life on the evening of 19 March in partnership with Lotterywest and Illuminart, who have worked on similar projects across Australia, telling stories through light and specialising in projection and immersive media.

Using exciting projection technology, the team will produce a unique light installation that will wrap over the sculptural forms of the skatepark, transforming it into an immersive digital landscape.

Dardanup Shire President Mick Bennett called on people of all ages to get involved in the project by answering the project’s focus question:

‘What brightens your mood?’

Responses can be shared through words, photographs, videos or artworks and the community’s contributions will form the basis of the installation – A captivating and glowing display of images, words and artworks that combined will encourage us to think about mental health.

Community members can also get involved by participating in a series of free community workshops hosted by Illuminart in the lead-up to the event to shed light on the technology behind the display, including stop motion animation and animation key framing.

“This will be an exciting opportunity to learn more about a growing industry from some of the best digital artists in the business,” Cr Bennett said.

Council acknowledged Lotterywest for making the event possible through its $20,000 grant toward the project.

More information about the event can be found on the EnLighten page of our website.
