Construction work along Council Drive in Eaton is shifting up a gear as Eaton Fair contractors working on realignment and reconstruction of the road are joined by our contractors who have started preparing the site for our brilliant new $1 million skatepark and pump track.
Due to portions of the road being closed, you can still visit our Administration Centre via a new carpark entrance accessed from the Eaton/Drive Hamilton Road roundabout or northern end of Council Drive.
Access to the Football Pavilion is at this stage maintained via a temporary entrance from the Recreation Drive end of the road however this will soon change as the roadworks move further south. Access to the Football Pavilion will at that point be provided via the new Shire Administration Centre carpark, as shown in the additional map below.
Another change we promised to keep you informed on was the upcoming need to close our Glen Huon Playground for approximately one month to accommodate construction activity at the skatepark site.
Thankfully we have been able to avoid the school holiday period for this closure which we can now advise will occur from July 26 to August 20. Signs will be in place to remind any visitors to the area during this time.
Dardanup Shire President Mick Bennett said Eaton Fair, its contractors and Shire Staff were all working together to ensure the period of interruption to usual traffic flows was completed as quickly and as efficiently as possible, while ensuring easy access to community facilities in the area is maintained.
“Please exercise additional caution when driving or walking through the affected areas and stay tuned via our website and Facebook page for rolling updates,” Cr Bennett said.
These changes to Council Drive will be an important stepping stone towards delivering the improvements set out under the Eaton Fair Activity Centre Plan approved by Council in 2017 and subsequently endorsed by the WA Planning Commission.
