Were you among the big group of committed community members who stepped forward last year to give us your ideas and input on how we can support people, groups and visitors in the future?
You might recall using our cutting-edge online consultation platform with ‘Ideas Wall’, youth pizza afternoons and stakeholder meetings?
All the valuable information you provided was collated, analysed and matched with our existing corporate plans to produce a Place and Community Plan 2020-2030.
You can read it here
The resulting Plan was recently adopted by Council and now acts as guide for our Place and Community Team when developing priority programs, projects and initiatives over the coming 10 years.
It contains 5 Key Focus Areas reflecting the regular themes which emerged throughout the various stages of the community consultation process.
- An Empowered and Actively Engaged community
- A sustainable and resilient community
- An Accessible and Inclusive Community
- A Vibrant and Connected Community
- A Distinctly Dardanup Community
Goals and actions were devised for each Focus Area, then listed in the plan and tagged with a short, medium or long timeframe for delivery.
Council’s new Community Advisory Group will ensure the Plan remains aligned with our community’s expectations as it is rolled out.
A newly-formed Youth Advisory Group will also assist with implementation of the plan.
Dardanup Shire President Mick Bennett said implementation of the Plan would ensure continuing positive social outcomes by creating a safe, healthy and vibrant community which is inclusive and welcoming for all ages.
“I would like to thank all those community members who contributed their ideas and feedback towards developing this Plan, ensuring we can provide a service with outcomes we can all be proud of,” Cr Bennett said.
