The Shire of Dardanup is advising residents to avoid contact with the waters of the Duck Pond (on Hamilton Road) and Eagle Wetland (near the Eaton Bowling Club) due to higher than normal levels of bacteria.
These elevated bacterial levels are the result of a Water Corporation sewage overflow incident that took place on 7 November.
Water Corporation have cleaned the affected street frontage and applied disinfectant at the point where the overflow occurred.
However, as a large volume of the untreated wastewater entered the waters of these reserves, we advise residents to avoid contact.
Shire of Dardanup Environmental Health Services will continue to monitor the situation, and will provide an update once bacterial numbers return to normal.
Any queries on this matter can be directed to Environmental Health Services on (08) 9724 0340.
