There are currently more than 85 unregistered cats in the Shire of Dardanup with renewals due on November 1 every year.
That means hundreds of cat owners are risking a $200 fine under the Cat Act if one of our Shire Rangers happens to come across their pet or a complaint is made.
Registration of cats from six months old with your local government is compulsory under the Cat Act 2011 and starts at just $20 for one-year registration.
Cat owners can now complete payments for pet registrations online via our website here.
Registering your cat with your local council means:
- Positive identification of your cat;
- Reuniting lost or injured cats with their owners;
- Investigation and resolution of cat problems; and
- If our Rangers discover a cat that is unregistered, under the Cat Act they have the authority to be able to issue a $200 infringement on the spot.
