Southern Ports Festive Auslan Choir

Tuesday 25th October 2022 to Tuesday 13th December 2022

The Shire of Dardanup, in partnership with Southern Ports and Kelly Hope from Hope CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) Services, is excited to provide you with an opportunity to be a part of the 2022 Southern Ports Festive Auslan Choir.

Being a part of this choir is your opportunity to participate in a free AUSLAN course with a festive twist and have the chance to showcase what you have learned at the Shire of Dardanup’s free community Christmas event, Movies by Moonlight: Burekup.

1-hour sessions will be delivered over eight weeks each Tuesday, from 4.00pm – 5.00pm at the Eaton Recreation Centre (Meeting Room) commencing 25 October 2022.

What can you expect to learn?

  • The signing of basic words
  • Fingerspelling
  • The signing of 3 songs with a festive feel
  • A bucket-load of festive fun!


7 + years and all experience levels welcome.

By joining this choir, you are committing to perform with the choir at the Shire of Dardanup’s free community event, Movies by Moonlight Burekup – Saturday, 17 December. Performance time will be between 6.15pm and 7.45pm, with more specific details to be provided at the course.

About your facilitator:

Kelly Hope is a qualified Child of Deaf Adult (CODA)

Growing up in a household with Deaf parents, Kelly learned sign language from a very young age.

Kelly has a passion for including the deaf and hard of hearing community, making Hope CODA Services the go-to for the South West.

Kelly uses AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) in her professional life as a counsellor, mentor and educator.

Her love of music shows through when Kelly signs to music, interpreting the music, words and meaning to enhance the experience for all around.
