Eaton Recreation Centre will this month undergo the most significant upgrade to its ageing gymnasium equipment in its 17-year history with installation about to commence of new, state-of-the-art strength and cardio equipment.
Last year Dardanup Shire Council gave the project a go-ahead under its 2019/20 capital works budget and the specialist equipment has now arrived from overseas.
Shire President Mick Bennett said timing of the gym upgrade had worked out well as Council had been particularly focused in recent months on strategies to support the health and well-being of its community during the global Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.
With some of the best fitness equipment in the area soon available at ERC, the community was now being invited to Transform their 2020.
New strength equipment will replace many machines which have been in operation since Eaton Recreation Centre first opened in 2003.
In addition, new cardio equipment will replace machines already past their five-year expected lifespan when maintenance costs start to increase and the technology becomes outdated.
Cr Bennett said the new equipment offered a wide range of training options for all members of the community.
“In selecting the range of equipment, our recreation centre staff were conscious of the changing trends in the fitness industry with a strong focus on the need for innovative strength equipment, functional training tools and cardio equipment that enables users to maintain individual levels of engagement, entertainment and most importantly, motivation. “
To allow for the upgrade and installation, the gym will be closed to users for three days from 9.00am on Monday, July 6 to 5.30am on Thursday, July 9.
Eaton Recreation Centre has fitness programs for youth, seniors and everyone in between.
With the best equipment in the local area and no lock-in contracts, there has never been a better time to ‘Transform your 2020!’
