Fire prevention is required on town site lots and rural land.
However property owners can apply for an exemption or variation to the Shire of Dardanup’s Fire Prevention Notice if they believe it is impractical to install or complete fire prevention works.
Reasons to apply for an exemption or variation might include:
- There is no need for a fire break due to existing ground conditions
- The land is too steep to be able to put a fire break in some sections
- The firebreak position needs to be relocated
- There is an alternate method of preventing fire on the property.
Applications for a Fire Break Exemption/Variation need to be lodged by September 30 each year. Applications must be signed off by your local Fire Control Officer before submitting your application to the Shire.
Please download a copy of the Firebreak Variation/Exemption Form and include in the submission a plan of your land, detailing your fire protection measures.
For further information phone the Shire of Dardanup on 9724 0355 or your local Fire Control Officer.
