What type of application?
There are two types of Freedom Of Information application:
- Request for information about someone other than you
- Request to change or delete information about you
Both types have a list of requirements that must be met under the FOI Act before they are considered ‘valid’ and can be attended to.
Type 1: Request for information about someone other than you
Your application must:
- Be in writing
- Give enough information to identify the documents you require
- Give an Australian address for correspondence ( Street address or Post Box – Not an email or other electronic address)
- Provide any other information required under the regulations
- Be accompanied by an application fee of $30.
Our FOI Form is not a requirement but may assist you with addressing the application requirements.
Please note: Charges may apply, including 20c per photocopy supplied, and $30 per hour for staff time to prepare a response.
Charges may be varied or waived depending on circumstances. These fees and charges are set by the FOI Act.
Type 2: Request to change or delete information about you
Your application must:
- Be in writing
- Give enough information to identify the documents that require change or deletion
- Provide detail on why you believe the information should be deleted or changed
- Outline detail of requested change such as –
– alter information;
– strike out or deleting information;
– insert information;
– insert a note in relation to information,
- Give an Australian address for correspondence ( Street address or Post Box – Not an email or other electronic address)
- Provide any other information or details required under the regulations.
There is no charge to submit an FOI application to amend personal details.
