Big crowds at Australia Day events

Big crowds turned out for Australia Day events across the Shire last week.

And how precious that opportunity to come together and connect seems this week as we again find ourselves again in a (hopefully!) short period of lockdown associated with State Government measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in our community.

Volunteers cooking breakfasts appreciated cooler weather on the day this year with the Eaton and Millbridge Lions estimating more than 700 people gathered at the Eaton Foreshore.

Sincere thanks from the Shire of Dardanup goes to all the volunteers who ensured the events were a great success:

  • Eaton & Millbridge Lions
  • Dardanup Lions
  • Dardanup & Districts Residents Association
  • Burekup & Districts Country Club

The day was also made possible with the assistance of the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.

Presentations on the morning included – Citizen of the Year Award, Citizenship ceremony and presentation of Bush Fire Brigade Volunteer Service Awards, National Awards & Bushfire Emergency Citation on behalf of the NSW Premier.
