Anzac Day At Home event

Even though we are unable to come together as a community to mark this sacred day, the Shire of Dardanup is urging the community to continue to honour our Diggers this Anzac Day.

RSLWA and the Shire of Dardanup are encouraging residents to light a candle at the end of their driveway at 5.55am on April 25 and stand in quiet contemplation.

Tune in to or stream your chosen radio station to hear The Ode, The Last Post and join in the one-minute silence.

Both ABC South West and Bunbury Community Radio will be broadcasting appropriate content.

The Shire of Dardanup has also teamed up with Tint City – Sign City in Bunbury for production of these unique bin stickers to help set the scene on your driveway. Available to purchase for $10. Just call in and collect from Tuesday, April 20 at 3/7 Hennessey Road, Bunbury. Or if you are unable to collect due to self-isolation, please call our Covid-19 Care Line on 9724 0044 to arrange home delivery.

After your driveway service, you could fire up the barbecue for a traditional gunfire breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausages … plus a mug of tea or coffee from the billy to toast the fallen.

We’ll provide a series of Anzac-themed posts and activities throughout the day to mark the occasion in our I HEART DARDANUP Facebook group.

We’d love you to be part of it by posting photos to the group showing how you and your family participated in Anzac Day with the hashtag #AnzacAtHome

We have 3 x $50 gift vouchers for local businesses offering takeaway/home delivered meals for the best photos submitted. You get to choose which Shire of Dardanup business you would like your voucher from.

Stay tuned, more details to come.
