Acknowledging Remembrance Day with the Red Poppy Project

This November the Shire of Dardanup is acknowledging the importance of Remembrance Day by collecting handmade red poppies to display in the foyer of the Eaton Administration Building.

The red poppy has particular significance for Australians and through this visual tribute will acknowledge the 61,513 lives that were lost in battle.

Whether you are a beginner or experienced crafter, choose to make only one or hundreds of poppies. Anyone can contribute to this project by dropping their finished poppies to the Eaton Administration Building, Eaton Community Library or Dardanup Administration Building.

We are not only looking for knitted or crocheted poppies, we also invite all other paper crafters, wood workers, sewers and anyone else who would like to contribute.

The Shire of Dardanup will also have a small selection of red wool available to assist those who may require materials, along with patterns for crocheted and knitted poppies.
