A group of 45 dedicated green thumbs enjoyed a sunny break in wintry weather on Sunday for a planting day along the Eaton Foreshore.
The event was organised to coincide with Planet Ark’s National Tree Day and the Eaton group joined an estimated 300,000 people across the country who participated in 3,200 similar events around Australia.
Shire of Dardanup Environmental Officer James Kain said almost 3,500 seedlings were planted along the foreshore on the day and will provide additional protection to the river banks from erosion.
Planet Ark estimates 1.1 million native trees and shrubs were planted on Sunday helping to beautify local communities.
Sincere thanks to all those people who contributed their efforts and elbow grease on Sunday to support our natural environment and to the Eaton Lions Club who rewarded everyone with a sausage sizzle afterwards.
