Student poster competition shines light on green theme

Primary school students in the Shire of Dardanup could have their art on permanent display in local parks and gardens if they win a new poster competition designed to raise awareness about protecting our environment from litter.

In their poster design, students are being asked to consider the question ‘Why Take 3?’.

The slogan is inspired by Sydney-based not-for-profit organisation Take 3 which delivers educational programs aimed at encouraging people to Take 3 pieces of rubbish with them when they visit places of environmental significance like beaches, rivers, reserves and parks.

Their message is “Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave and you’ve made a difference!”.

To find out more about the work of Take 3 visit their website www.take3.org

Winning posters will be converted into stickers and used as eye-catching wrap-arounds on bins throughout the Shire of Dardanup.

The 3 BEST posters submitted will also win a hand-made bird/fauna box for their school.

Competition posters should be completed on A3 paper and primary school students are welcome to submit multiple entries.

Students will need to scan their poster and email to Shire Environmental Officer James Kain: james.kain@dardanup.wa.gov.au with their name, age, phone number and school attending.

Entries close on Friday, June 30.
